Soleus DP1-45-03 (SG-DEH-45-1) 45 PINT ENERGY STAR Dehumidifier.

Fan doesn't stop running
I have this unit set up in a 27x30 basement space. It seems to work well enough, but the fan never shuts off, even when the desired humidity level is reached. I was recently told by Soleus technical support that this is the expected behavior. To me, it seems like a poor design and a waste of electricity. Had I known this in advance, I definitely would not have purchased this item.

Way better than my LG dehumidifier
I have two dehumidifiers, this Soleus and one that is an LG brand. This one totally blows the LG away on all fronts.
The Soleus:
1) removes 2-3 times as much water from the air in the same amount of time
2) puts out WAY less heat than the LG
3) is quieter than the LG
The only downside is that it is so effective, I need a bigger tank. In a room that just had the carpet steamcleaned, it filled the tank in about 8 hours.
I've had it for several years and it's still going strong.

possible fire hazzard
I had 3 of these dehumidifiers from menards and none lasted longer than 3 months and these models have had bad reviews for years - that's the good news - since then I did a little investigating and come to find out these have been pulled from sellers shelves and are under investigation for possible fire hazards.- before I wrote this I wrote soleus and was told that they recommended not running it anymore until they finish investigating a complaint ( not mentioning anything about possible fire hazard) - since I got the last unit direct from the company you would think they would warn customers about something they knew for months about possibly catching fire - but I had to find out about it on the internet. Unreal customer service not to even a warning to the customer yet pulled them from stores - needless to say I am still here to write this and not dead with the rest of my family. After 3 bad units in a row I just wanted my money back and have yet to get it. You have been warned -...
