Avoid. Poor design
Poor quality. On a roast, thinnest slice was about 3/8". Anything less, would not slice all the way through. Slide kept catching on back plate. Awkward to use. They suggest frozen or partially frozen meats for slicing. Didn't try. Also tried a relatively hard cheese, but about 1/2" slices was the best I could do. Because of the slide problem didn't always slice all the way through.
Only good point was ability to fold it for storage.
Poorly designed, low quality piece of junk
DO NOT buy this. I did, hoping it would be like my old KRUPS which worked great and lasted years. This unit does not slice tin, the sliding tray jams and sticks, it is awkward to use. The Krups looked similar but worked opposite of this so it felt very strange using the other hand to push the tray that would.'t slide. It is also difficult to clean as the bottom tray does not detach.
The whole unit looks and feels cheap. You will be very disappointed if you buy it. Mine, after one use, is going in the trash. Don't want to waste more money shipping it back.
I rarely give two or three stars, but for this, if there was the option, I would give zero stars.
Bought it for my mom :-)
My mom has one of these in Europe and she loves it. We buy salami from the supermarket in whole and it's just easier to slice it up ourselves, instead of buying it already sliced up at the store. She loves it. You also don't need all that extra stuff it comes with, the tray that slides back and forth. Works fine without all that.
