Not a convection oven!
We ordered this specific oven as a basic toaster oven, according to the description of its features and because it was not described as a convection oven. And it is a basic oven not a convection oven. So, if you want a convection oven, don't purchase this model. It has worked very well in the short time we have had it and there is no reason to doubt that it will not provide excellent service for a very inexpensive cost. We are very pleased with it.
Started to fail after 18 months
This product was received as a housewarming give from a well-meaning mother-in-law. At first, we used it without issue, although the toast function was sub-par, producing an uneven result and somewhat confusing controls.
After about a year of low to moderate usage (once per day on average) it became obvious that the temperature was no where near the intended settings. The max I could obtain (with a calibrated thermometer) was about 340 degrees. The dial indicates a setting of 450.
Now, 18 months along, the toaster barely gets to 300 degrees on any setting, rendering it useless. I will be recycling it this weekend, and just placed an order for a Cuisinart product.
It's funny, as a kid growing up in the 1970's Black and Decker had a real decent brand loyalty and a reputation for making quality products. It's unfortunate that had to change.
